Does the weather affect your mood?

Weather is an uncontrollable atmospheric action and often inconsistent. We can the same be said about our moods. Some people’s moods are like the weather, hot, cold and very inconsistent. Studies have been done to see if one is dependent of the other. Weather has for some time been believed to impact a person’s mood but it is very difficult to capture in a study. It is not a hidden fact that on sunny days we are a more pleasant person than on the days where it is raining. Sun makes me happy. The weather seems to alter my mood. According to Deanna Health weather does affect people’s moods. The University of Michigan did studies that show that good weather makes people more pleasant and improves their memory and creativity. Hot weather made people more angry and violent. Denissen et al. found that weather’s daily influence has more of an impact on a person’s negative mood, rather than helping one’s positive mood. Higher temperatures were associated with an increase in a person’s negative feelings, feelings such as being more irritable, distressed, or jittery. The researchers also found that greater amounts of sunlight and less amounts of wind decreased these negative feelings.
